2008 Open Sailing Regatta
Lake Tobesofkee's Sandy Beach Park in Macon

Date: Nov. 7-9, 2008

Approximately 60 Georgia athletes from around the state  will compete with unified partners  while racing Catamaran boats on Lake Tobesofkee.

All the events are free and open to the public, so plan to bring the whole family to come out and support the athletes. Come be and fan in the stands. We'd love to see you out there!

Schedule

Friday:

2 p.m.-5 p.m. Registration

2 p.m.-6 p.m. Site Familiarization and practice

6 p.m.-7 p.m. Opening Ceremony

Racing Area

The racing area will be directly off the beach.

Saturday:

10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Divisioning/Racing

Should conditions make it impossible to complete the schedule number of races, the regatta shall be terminated and the results based on the races completed and scored.

Sunday:
10 a.m.-1 p.m. Racing

1p.m. Lunch and awards.

Medals will be awarded to the skippers and crews finishing in the top three positions in each fleet.

Directions

NORTH ON I-475 - Exit 5, take left at the red light onto Thomaston Rd. Travel through 2 traffic lights and take the next left (after the 2nd traffic light) onto Mosley Dixon Rd. (Landmarks: Animal Hospital and Show and Tell Car Wash all on your left). Continue to travel on Mosley Dixon Road until you approach the water. Once you pass Central Georgia Marina, Sandy Beach Park’s entrance will be on your left.

SOUTH ON I-475 - Exit 5, take right onto Thomaston Road - Travel through 1 traffic light and take the next left (after the traffic light) onto Mosley Dixon road. (Landmarks: Animal Hospital and Show and Tell Car Wash all on your left). Continue to travel on Mosley Dixon Road about 2 miles—Sandy Beach Park’s entrance will be on your left.

WEST ON I-16 - Take I-75 South Interchange, Exit Mercer university Drive and take a right after Exit onto Mercer University Drive and travel West. Mercer University turns into Thomaston Road. (Landmarks: Colonial Mall and mercer Crossing Shopping Center) Continue West and you will see I-475 and a traffic light, continue West and take a left after 2nd traffic light on Mosley Dixon Road. (Landmarks: Animal Hospital and Show and Tell Car Wash all on your left). Continue to travel on Mosley Dixon Road until you approach the water. Once you pass Central Georgia Marina, Sandy Beach Park’s entrance will be on your left.

EAST ON HWY. 80 - Turn left on North Lizella Road and follow to Lower Thomaston Road (caution light). Take a Left onto Lower Thomaston, continue across the lake and take 1st right onto Mosley Dixon Road. Follow Mosley Dixon to Sandy Beach Park which is located on your right.
