Help cops who are Cuffed
for a Cause
This year join law enforcement officers as they
are handcuffed to a moving treadmill for eight hours or until their fundraising
goal is met! It’s all in the name of the athletes and they hope to show the same
dedication and determination that the athletes do! Locations will vary across
the state – stay tuned for more information. Give a buck and help them rest off
of the treadmill.
Sponsor of the month
Special Olympics Georgia is pleased to announce
a new partnership with Raving Brands, an Atlanta based company proudly
sponsoring the 2008 Art Auction by providing the meal for the evening. The
selection of hors d’ oeuvres will provided by one of their many restaurants, The
Flying Biscuit, a hot spot amongst Atlanta natives. Raving Brands staff will be
in attendance for the event to help set up and serve the meal, as well as
enjoying the amazing art work that the auction has to offer.
Raving Brands is the parent company to some of your favorite restaurants, such
as Doc Green’s, Mama Fu’s, Planet Smoothie, Shane’s Rib Shack, Flying Biscuit,
Boneheads, PJ’s Coffee, and Monkey Joe’s. These restaurants also have a healthy
twist creating fresh, innovative concepts in environments that resonate with
consumers.
Raving Brands is about focus, passion, execution, and a great experience for
consumers. What truly sets them apart is their vision for a unique franchise
model. Their “Why not?” attitude challenges them to take risks others in the
industry won’t take, and forces them to think everyday about how they can help
their franchisees with every level of their business.
We are excited about their contribution and dedication to Special Olympics
Georgia, and look forward to continuing our partnership. Know that when you
visit any Raving Brands restaurant, you are supporting an organization that is
truly “giving back” to their community.

Volunteer of the Month -
Teresa
McDonald
Teresa McDonald has been a part of the Special Olympics Georgia family for more
than five years.
She
began volunteering through the Newnan Civitans by running the Olympic
Village at the Coweta County Special Olympics local games. She then moved on to
become the chairperson of the Olympic Village. Then about five years ago, Teresa
joined the Coweta County Special Olympics Board and has still continued
to coordinate the games' Olympic Village. Coweta County's Village is considered
the best in the entire state thanks to Teresa's efforts. The Village features
rides, games, music, a barber shop, and so much more. Teresa turned the Olympic
Village into a wonderful event that helps make the local spring games a success.
Teresa also dedicates her time by volunteering at other Coweta County local
competitions. To those that have had the privilege to work with her, she is one
of the most kind hearted people and a joy to know.
Thank you Teresa for your support each year and for all of your hard work. We
congratulate you on being the March Volunteer of the Month.
Do you know someone who should be Volunteer of the Month? Simply send the person's contact information (name, email address, mailing address, and phone number) and a brief paragraph explaining why you think they should win to:
