Sponsors of the month
During each State Games competition our goal is
to increase the number of athletes that are able to compete and experience the
joy of Special Olympics Georgia each year. Through our partnerships with
generous members of Atlanta’s corporate and philanthropic community, we are able
to do so. This year we expect to have more than 2,300 athletes, coaches and
unified partners competing in seven sports during the 2008 State Indoor Winter
Games: Basketball, Bowling, Floor Hockey, Ice Skating, Powerlifting, Gymnastics
and Rollerskating.
Our 2008 State Indoor Winter Games sponsors include
AutoTrader.com,
firstPRO,
HRworks,
Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Employees
Reaching Out Club, MetLife,
Philips,
Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Superior
Essex and Winter Construction.
Our corporate partners have a tremendous impact on the lives of our athletes
through donations of both their time and talent. We certainly could not do it
without you and greatly appreciate all that you do for Special Olympics Georgia.
For their support, volunteerism and dedication we honor all of our 2008 State
Indoor Winter Games partners, as Sponsors of the Month!

Volunteer of the Month -
Lisa Taljan
Lisa Taljan has been actively involved in the "Just People" Special Olympics
Program since it began five years ago. With "Just People," Lisa has chaperoned
and volunteered for every area and State Games competition that they have been
involved in. She also volunteers with multiple sports including softball,
basketball, volleyball, bocce and more and she drives Roswell athletes to their
games and practices. In the five years that she has been with "Just People,"
Lisa has never missed a practice. Any sport where she is needed, whether it's
coaching, getting uniforms, driving around to get snacks, etc., Lisa is always
right there to help. Lisa also lives at the "Just People" property and can often
be found grocery shopping with athletes, case managing, giving out medications,
chaperoning social activities, driving the day group and more.
Because of her dedicated service to the athletes and her hard work throughout
the years, Lisa is an important member of both "Just People" and Special
Olympics Georgia. Her commitment gives her athletes the chance to participate
and enjoy as many sports as possible.
Special Olympics Georgia congratulates Lisa on being the January Volunteer of
the Month.
