Sponsor of the month

Full Throttle Magazine is a new friend to
the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) and Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA).
Full Throttle is a magazine for motorcycle enthusiasts and focuses on events
in Georgia and the Southland. Editor Randy Snyder recently supported the LETR
and SOGA through the Iron Torch Ride. Snyder was one of the select 50
motorcyclists that rode from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Key West, Florida over
three weeks last summer to help raise money and
awareness for Special Olympics programs across the United States.
Snyder and Full Throttle are well known in the motorcycling community and
help support charities throughout the year. After participating in the
Iron Torch Ride, Snyder made the decision to adopt Special Olympics Georgia as
one of their charities. You can read about SOGA events in the monthly magazine
as well as online at
www.gafullthrottle.com.
The Torch Run as well as SOGA looks forward to great partnership with Full
Throttle and the motorcycling community.

Volunteer of the Month -
Tonia
Rogers
Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA) would like to recognize the efforts of
February's Volunteer of the Month, Tonia Rogers, who for the past few years has
gone above and beyond in her efforts to take care of our athletes and coaches
and to ensure their safety. Tonia is the Cobb Community Transit supervisor that
is in charge of the bus routes for the State Indoor Winter Games in Marietta.
Each year, she sees to it that all routes run on the correct schedule and stay
on track throughout the weekend of Games. She maintains a friendly attitude
toward everyone and stresses to each of her drivers that they need to take extra
care of the passengers.
Last year during the Winter Games, a group of athletes were stranded at a venue
and could not get back to the Civic Center. When Tonia heard about the group,
she pulled a bus, drove it herself and went to pick up those stranded athletes.
This year, SOGA along with Tonia and every other transit system in the Atlanta
area had to deal with the inclement weather. Tonia made sure the buses ran
safely and on time. Because of the snow, venues were closed at 1 pm Saturday but
Tonia ran the buses until 2:30 pm that day to ensure that everyone had a ride.
. Actions like these shows Tonia's dedication to the Games and the athletes.
Thank you Tonia for your support each year and for all of your hard work. We
congratulate you on being the February Volunteer of the Month.

How you can help
Special Olympics Georgia is a proud Partner
Agency member of Community Health Charities of Georgia (CHCG). CHCG connects
Georgia employees to the opportunities and services of leading health charities
through workplace giving, where they direct donations to the agencies of their
choice. These campaigns provide valuable funding to SOGA, with very little
effort on our part. We can help CHCG continue to grow these workplace giving
campaigns by helping its leadership locate employers who are interested in
adding this important benefit to their employees. If a company does not already
offer a workplace giving campaign, CHCG will explain the benefits to the
employer. If one is already in place, they will approach the employer to
consider adding employee choice to increase the total employee participation.
Special Olympics Georgia will benefit, directly and indirectly, from this
increased fundraising exposure.
