Sponsor of the Month

Federated Department Stores, Inc. is one of America's premier national retailers, operating more than 850 Macy's and Bloomingdale's stores in 45 states, with a diverse workforce of over 188,000 employees. Federated 's Partners in Time employee volunteer program celebrated its 16th anniversary in 2005. It is an award-winning program adopted by all of the company's divisions and operations across the country. Over the years, a total of 1.2 million hours has been given in community service nationwide, valued at nearly $20 million. Partners' simple, successful mission, "Sharing Our Time To Make A Difference," has impacted nearly all segments of society.

The headquarters of Macy’s South are in Atlanta and through the Federated Department Stores Foundation Special Olympics Georgia has been the recipient of countless volunteer hours and grant funds. Since 2001, Macy’s has been the Presenting Sponsor of the 2007 State Summer Games, where over 150 Macy’s employees give of their time to celebrate our Athletes accomplishments. Federated believes that community service is a cornerstone of the company's values, as well as a grassroots representation of its overall philosophy. We, at Special Olympics Georgia, have seen this exemplified through their tireless commitment to support SOGA athletes.

For their support, volunteerism and dedication we honor Macy’s as May’s Sponsor of the Month!

   VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

Volunteer of the Month -

Elizabeth Ferguson

Few people are gifted in taking on the challenge of fundraising and transforming their areas with dedication and determination. Elizabeth Ferguson has done just that for Macon Bibb County Parks and Recreation.

This year's Change for Champions campaign was a huge success for Macon Bibb County Parks and Recreation because of Ferguson's work in getting more schools to participate. The campaign went from raising $20 last year to involving most schools in the area and raising more than $2,700.

Elizabeth has also raised awareness for their program. She worked with the local news media to broadcast Macon Bibb's events. The broadcasts caused a surge of calls from people wanting to get more information on their events. Elizabeth also spearheaded Macon Bibb's first year at the Annual Cherry Blossom Parade and Arts and Crafts Festival. The event was a huge success with more than 70 athletes and volunteers participating.

Ferguson  has literally transformed the program. She has gone above and beyond her duties and has taken on a very challenging and difficult task.

From everyone at Macon Bibb County Parks and Recreation and from everyone at Special Olympics Georgia, we thank and congratulate Elizabeth Ferguson for all of her efforts!
