Sponsor of the month

Special Olympics Georgia is proud to welcome its newest sponsor, NetMOVE. For the past 11 years, NetMOVE has been moving Atlanta area residents and businesses and setting a new bar for quality within the moving industry. History proves that NetMOVE is achieving its number one goal of creating value by offering their customers award winning quality service at a competitive price. One measure of proof is their record with the Atlanta Better Business Bureau. In 11 years of providing services to countless customers, they have amassed a grand total of zero complaints!
Beyond being the top moving company in Atlanta, NetMOVE is a company that cares about their community. In 2008 alone, NetMOVE contributed to various Atlanta based charities in amounts totaling $82,400. We here at Special Olympics Georgia are grateful to have been welcomed into the NetMOVE family and deeply appreciate their generosity. By sponsoring both the 2009 Summer Games and the 2009 Duck Derby, NetMOVE is making a positive impact on the lives of our Special Olympics Georgia athletes by giving them the financial means to train and compete.
As our sponsor of the month, we would like to thank NetMOVE for their support and belief in our mission and athletes.

   VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

Volunteer of the Month -Peter Marino

For the month of June, SOGA is honoring a first time volunteer, Peter Marino, who generously donated his service and time to the 2009 Summer Games. Marino is the president of The One Hour Drummer and he set up a tent at our Olympic Town venue with his drums so that our athletes could play. Anyone that has ever been to Olympic Town knows that we have a lot going on there, including lots of crafts, games and inflatables but this year it seemed the drums  tent stayed busiest. It was the first time we had The One Hour Drummer out but hopefully it will not be our last. All day his tent was filled with athletes learning how to play a variety of rhythms on the drums. It was truly an enjoyable experience for not only the athletes but for everyone who got to see the smiling faces and laughing that came from the tent on Saturday. Marino stayed in that tent all day on Saturday, never leaving once, teaching our athletes how to scat, rap and create sounds and rhythms on several of his drums. And never once did Marino complain about being out there all day. Instead he truly enjoyed being out there. There wasn't a minute that he did not look like he was having the time of his life along with all of the athletes playing the drums right along with him.

Because of his outstanding dedication, SOGA is proud to honor Marino as the volunteer of the month. Congratulations to you on being the June Volunteer of the Month. We hope to see him at our other State Games!
