Volunteer of the Month -
Bobbie King
Being a Special Olympics coach takes spirit, devotion, energy and time. You have
to be a role model and friend to your athletes. This month, we honor
Bobbie King, who truly embodies the Special Olympics character. Bobbie has been
with SOGA several years and has coached various sports. Many coaches have
full-time jobs and families but they still find time to train and mentor
athletes. The same goes for Bobbie. No matter what is happening in
Bobbie's life she is involved in her athletes' lives. She remembers everything
they tell her and is interested in what is going on in their lives.
One example of her dedication happened while she was coaching her swim team in
Cobb County. Because of a storm, one of her athletes had to stay late when her
mom couldn't get to the center. Bobbie stayed and chatted with the athlete with
a smile on her face. Examples like this one shows parents and athletes how
incredibly loving, giving and warm Bobbie is. Her athletes and their
families know that she puts our more than her time and effort into coaching and
is always a pleasure to be around.
Thanks Bobbie for all of your hard work and dedication to Special Olympics
Georgia. You are truly special to all of the athletes, families and staff of
SOGA.
Congratulations to you on being the September Volunteer of the Month.
