Go to THE TOUR Championship, with SOG as the special code

Watch the top 30 PGA TOUR players compete at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola and support Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA) at the same time. Purchase your weekly grounds ticket book for THE TOUR Championship, held Sept. 23-27 at East Lake Golf Club, for $150, with 100 percent going to charity and $75 going back to SOGA. Click here and you can purchase your tickets online. Just remember to use SOG in the TICKETS Fore CHARITY box.

Let officers serve you at Joe's Crab Shack Oct. 15

Come to any of the six Atlanta area Joe's Crab Shacks to help support your local law enforcement Oct. 15 as they serve you to help raise money for Special Olympics. Check back to download the new coupon to bring with you. Also, support Sandy Springs Police Department servers Oct. 16 at the Sandy Springs Flying Biscuit from 5 to 10 p.m.

Ride in the Great Train Chase Metric Century Bike Ride

Register to ride through the grand views and rolling hills of Cobb County Saturday, Oct. 24. The chase will start in downtown Kennesaw,  go through Allatoona, Red Top Mountain, Kennesaw Mountain and back to  downtown Kennesaw. Choose either a 15, 40 or 62-mile ride.    VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

Volunteer of the Month -Betsy McBride

Although Betsy McBride is a new volunteer with Special Olympics Georgia, her willingness to drop in proved beneficial during the 2009 Duck Derby. Betsy volunteered her time working in the office assisting with duck adoption entry, Quack Pack mailing, and many other duck related task. Betsy also volunteered at Six Flags White Water on the Day of the Duck Derby. She continues to volunteer her time in the office to the Special Events Department with various task for all events.
 

Because of her outstanding dedication, SOGA is proud to honor Betsy as the volunteer of the month. Congratulations to you on being the August Volunteer of the Month. We look forward to your participation in the future!

August 29
Off the Road Antique Show, Marietta
The “Off the Road Antique Show” is a fun fundraiser for Special Olympics Georgia. Olivia Morgan Antiques is providing FREE appraisals and volunteers are needed to help out. Volunteers must be 18 or over.

October 2 - 4
State Fall Games, Statesboro
Over 1,500 SOGA athletes will be coming from all over Georgia to Statesboro to compete in the Fall Games. Sports include bocce, cycling, long distance running/walking, golf and softball.

November 13 - 15
State Horse Show, Perry
Volunteer for Special Olympics Georgia's most unique state competition. Event features dressage, showmanship, walking trails and English/Western style riding. Volunteers are needed for the entire weekend.

November 14
Southeastern Powerlifting, Macon
Fans in the Stands are needed to help cheer on our athletes. Powerlifters from six states will come to Macon to participate in this exciting event.

Take a quiz so SOGA can receive a grant

Help SOGA win a $2,500 grant by clicking here to take a quiz about positive reinforcement, ways to reduce injuries, hand signals and dealing with disappointment through Liberty Mutual's Responsible Sports program.  Before you take the quiz, you will learn pointers for the quiz. If you pass, you score a point for SOGA and the teams with the most points gets a grant. You will learn something valuable! 14th Annual Bob Busse Golf Classic

Reserve your spot for the 2009 Bob Busse Golf Classic set for Oct. 12 at the Country Club of the South in Alpharetta.  A shotgun start will kick off the tournament and participants can expect a great game of golf along with golf course prizes, and a silent auction. Golf at Laurel Springs Oct. 4

Laurel Springs Par 3 Tournament:
Sunday, Oct. 4, SOGA is teaming up with Laurel Springs Golf Club to celebrate their transformation into a Par 3 course. There will be a 2 p.m. shotgun start.
