Volunteer of the Month
- Ken Housand
Ken Housand is an amazing
volunteer whose help in
planning and coordinating the
meals at the 2005 Masters
Bowling competition in
Columbus was essential to the
success of the event. As
preparations were being made
for the Saturday lunch, Ken
was there bright and early to
set up the tables. Throughout
the day he was extremely
helpful, always willing to do
any task that was needed. He
was always kind to all the
athletes and coaches. With
his knowledge from previous
years volunteering, he helped
make the meals go without a
hitch! After working all
morning and part of the
afternoon, Ken then worked the
entire dinner shift at
Columbus State University,
helping to ensure all the
volunteers were placed
properly.
This was Ken’s first year as
the Meals Chair Person on the
Games Management Team, and he
did an outstanding job. His
kindness and generosity are a
benefit to SOGA and to all
individuals that come in
contact with him. He
encompasses the true spirit of
a volunteer.
Ken goes above and beyond
because he not only volunteers
is time with SOGA, but with
many other nonprofit
organizations. He gives his
time and his effort to those
in need. He approaches his
volunteering with kindness in
his heart and a willingness to
help wherever and whenever he
is needed. He had a positive
attitude all weekend, and
offered words of encouragement
to all those around him. He
took the time to speak with
all the athletes, and coaches.
Ken stands out in a crowd not
because he wants attention for
all of his hard work, but
because he does it out of the
kindness and giving spirit of
his heart.
Do you know someone who should
be Volunteer of the Month?
Simply send the person's contact
information (name, email
