11 Alive Community Service Award

Each year for more than 30 years, the 11Alive’s Community Service Awards (CSA) has honored 11 outstanding local volunteers who have demonstrated selfless devotion for the betterment of the community.

Atlanta Falcons Defensive End Patrick Kerney and Mrs. Stephanie Blank will co-host the event, which will air during prime-time on WXIA-TV, 11 Alive.
Each year the Community Service Awards dinner proceeds benefit a selected charity. This year, the proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Georgia. You can help us recognize the outstanding service of the 11Alive Community Service Awards recipients and support the important work of Special Olympics Georgia by participating as a table sponsor.
There are two levels of support. Sponsor a Host Table for $2,500 or a Silver Host Table for $5,000. While both table sponsorships entitle you to a table for ten guests, the Silver Host Table includes prominent placement in the ballroom.
For additional information or reservations, please contact Amy Holloway at 404.892.1611, or go to http://www.11alive.com/life/community/csa/

Volunteer of the Month - Ed Weaver

Ed Weaver first became involved with Special Olympics Georgia in 1998, when his daughter competed in Gymnastics.  The first year he was a spectator, but by the second year he was assisting the Gymnastics coach.  In 2000, Ed became certified as a Gymnastics coach and went on to coach his daughter and her team.  Under Ed's leadership and support the team has brought home many gold, silver & bronze medals; all which they wear proudly and equally.  In 2005, Ed escorted his team to perform for the UGA Lady Gym dogs in Athens, Georgia.  The team gave a fabulous performance!

Ed has also taught a group of Special Olympics athletes to ring handbells.  Not only did they learn to ring handbells and read music, but they also performed in concert.

Ed is also a proud supporter of the Law Enforcement Torch Run and recently volunteered his time to sit on the Fall Games Evaluation Committee.

For all of his support, time and dedication - we honor Ed Weaver as the November Volunteer of the Month!

Do you know someone who should be            Volunteer of the Month?
