The Law Enforcement
Torch Run is SOGA’s largest year round
fundraising event. Law Enforcement
Departments across Georgia dedicate
countless hours to raise money and
awareness for Special Olympics. Publix
has generously teamed up with the Law
Enforcement Torch Run and will sell
paper torch icons in all stores through
the month of January. Proceeds from the
sales of the paper torches support the
athletes of Special Olympics Georgia.

Volunteer of the
Month -
Debbie Brooks
Debbie Brooks has been
involved with Douglas
County Special
Olympics for nearly
twenty years. Debbie
has always sacrificed
her time and energy to
promote better living
for Special Olympians;
encouraging participants
to always want more and
to always have respect
for themselves and
others. She works
tireless hours, never
asking anything in
return; all while
maintaining a smile and
a "Can Do" attitude.
Debbie has a son that
participates in Special
Olympics Georgia, but
she also acts as a
surrogate mother to many
other athletes. Whether
she's providing snacks
or chaperoning a dance;
she's always there to
lend a hand. With all
of the SOGA activities
she's involved with she
still manages time to
coach, be a mother,
grandmother and wife.
Debbie personifies what
it is to be a true
volunteer. For this
reason we honor her as
January's volunteer of
the month.
Do you know someone who should
be Volunteer of the Month?
Simply send the person's contact
information (name, email
address, mailing address, and
phone number) and a brief
paragraph explaining why you
think they should win to:

**Online Donations
You can make an online
donation and support the 22,956
registered SOGA athletes.
