Kittie
Caston has been with Special Olympics Georgia,
Cobb County for 25 years. She has actually
BEEN SO Cobb for a portion of that time, (i.e.
kept it going)! Kittie has served in
pretty much every role on the management team
and as a local coordinator. She has
shuttled athletes who were without
transportation, designed t-shirts, ordered and
kept track of equipment and uniforms, secured
practice locations and coordinated local and
area competitions. She is certified in
almost every sport offered, as well as games
management. Kittie has been to several
World Games and plans to support athletes this
year in Iowa at the National Games. She
never hesitates to promote Special
Olympics. If not for Kittie Catson, there
would not be a Cobb County Special Olympics
program.
Kitties's
accomplishments are a great achievement,
especially with her time consuming position
as an adapted PE teacher in the Cobb
County school system. Special Olympics
Georgia congratulates Kittie Caston, the 2006
April Volunteer of the Month.

Hats off to Atlanta Public
Schools!
Special Olympics
Georgia would like to recognize and
congratulate Atlanta Public
Schools, Program for Exceptional Children
for
their outstanding commitment and coordination of
health assessments for special needs students
and new Special Olympic Georgia athletes!
Special Olympics Georgia offers "Medfest" a free
health screening for students with special
needs, conducted by volunteer health
professionals and performed at school
locations. With the strong guidance,
arrangement and careful planning,
Regina Edwards and
Janice Richards, both of the Program
for Exceptional Children, four screenings have
been completed since January.
Consider this
quote from Regina:
"The Medfest Program has been nothing
less than an absolute assest to the Atlanta
Public Schools Special Olympics Program!
It has made registering athletes so simple for
all involved. We have really increased our
number of participants and could never
accomplish this with Medfest. I cannot
thank the doctors enough."
Special
Olympics is honored to work with such dedicated
women and with a school system that clearly
demonstrates a consolidated effort to ALL
students.
