Volunteer of the Month -
Wendall Ray, SuperValu
Wendell
Ray is a semi-truck driver for SuperValu, Incorporated. He travels each year
from his Jacksonville, Alabama home to drive the SuperValu semi-truck for
Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA) carrying food for the riders in the Bicycle Ride
Across Georgia.
Wendell woke at 4 am, met SOGA staff at 4:30 am, navigated through the
back roads of Georgia in the pitch-black, loaded and un-loaded tons of fruit,
crackers and ice, etc. Wendell always remained positive. He is the epitome of a
Special Olympics Georgia volunteer.
After driving the semi for SOGA / BRAG for five years, Wendell has retired from
this event. He will be greatly missed! During the June 10 – 17, 2006 BRAG,
Wendell remarked the SOGA cycling athletes inspired him. Thanks Wendell
for the time and effort you have given to Special Olympics Georgia and for the
inspiration you have been.
