AutoTrader.com is celebrating its 15th anniversary by donating $15,000 to charity. Take part in their 15YR/$15K Facebook Giveaway May 13 – June 2 and help Special Olympics win!

Here’s how it works:
1. Upload a photo of your car along with a description of how you use it to help others in your community. Entries accepted through May 25.
2. Ask your friends to vote for your entry. Everyone on Facebook can vote once every 24 hours from May 13-June 2.
3. The entry with the most votes wins $10k to donate to one of the six selected charities. The other five charities will each receive a $1k donation.
4. In addition to community champion bragging rights, the contest winner will also receive a $100 gas card.
5. The contest winner will be announced June 5.

4th Annual Johns Creek PD Golf Tournament

Registration for players, teams closes April 30

Johns Creek Police have issued a Be-On-the-Lookout alert for golfers to play in the 5th annual golf tournament to benefit Special Olympics Georgia on May 6 at St. Ives Country Club in Johns Creek.

Registration for individuals and teams ends April 30, and costs $125 per person or $500 for a team of four. Sponsorships are also available from $250 to $5,000.

The tournament is part of the JCPD’s annual participation in the non-profit’s Law Enforcement Torch Run, which raises money to serve more than 23,000 Georgians with intellectual disabilities.

“Watching an athlete’s face light up when he or she gets a medal is priceless,” said JCPD Maj. John Clifton. “With their disabilities, most Special Olympic athletes are not able to participate in sports like other people. The first time I put a medal around an athlete’s neck and saw how happy he was, jumping up and down, I thought, ‘Heck yeah, I want to support this.’ And people playing in the tournament and the sponsors help make it possible for an athlete to win a medal and feel that sense of achievement.”

The tournament is an 18-hole, 4-man scramble format. Registration includes green fees and cart, range balls, box lunch, buffet dinner, awards and prizes. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams, Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, and Putting contests. A raffle will be held immediately after play.

The St. Ives golf course was designed by Tom Fazio, who holds the most credits on Golf Digest’s list of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses, Golfweek’s collection of America’s Best.
