Almost time for Camp Inspire!About 60 Special Olympics Georgia athletes between the ages of 13 and 18 will participate in the third annual week-long, overnight camp where they will learn Special Olympics sports training in a camp atmosphere at Camp Will-A-Way in Winder June 27-July 1. Athletes will have an opportunity to learn how to swim, boat, fish, and archery. Nature walks, music, games and dancing will add to the camp and give an opportunity to athletes to play, laugh and have fun as individuals and teammates.
Camp Inspire is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, Georgia Council and the camp is a partner of Camp Twin Lakes. The Knights of Columbus held a black-tie fundraiser in February to raise money for the camp. Also at the camp, 18 youth volunteers will participate in a Youth Forum, in which they will learn team building, leadership training and participate in activities with athletes, staff and volunteers. The program is called Youth Leaders Educating Others About Disabilities.
