Based in Atlanta,
The Winter Construction Company
is a privately owned and operated construction company. Their
expertise has kept them consistently ranked in the ENR top 400 contractors
in the United States for over 25 years. Today, Winter provides
construction and environmental services to clients in the hospitality,
retail, government, education, corporate/office, religious, healthcare,
historic restoration, industrial, and multifamily markets throughout the
Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic States.
Of all the things Winter has
built over the years, the most valuable to them are the relationships they
have established with their clients. Every day they work to strengthen
these relationships by maintaining the quality of their construction
method and the value of their professionalism, and by ensuring consistent,
successful delivery on all projects. After all, they want everything they
build to last a lifetime – including their client relationships.
Winter is passionate about
supporting Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA) and raising the much-needed
funds to support SOGA programs. In 2004, Winter inaugurated their first
annual golf tournament with SOGA as the beneficiary. To date, Winter has
donated over $230,000, and hundreds of Winter employees and their families
have volunteered and provided hands-on assistance at Team Basketball
during the State Indoor Winter Games and Volleyball during the State
Summer Games.
We are honored to have Winter
as a member of the Special Olympics Georgia family, and it is a
relationship that we definitely value and hold in high regard. Thank you

September Volunteer of the Month: Patti
Carruth
Old
Navy in Gainesville has supported Special Olympics Georgia events for four
years, sending out volunteers for the Sailing Regatta, which through Gap
Inc., also raises money for the organization. Patti Carruth, the store
manager for the Gainesville Old Navy, was key in recruiting the company
and has been bringing several volunteers from her store for the
Regatta. She has helped run the Regatta, and even rolled up her
sleeves and done the dirty work that comes with events, all of this with a
smile on her face. This year, Patti came out to help with the Duck Derby
Tagging Party, bringing along out a team of enthusiastic Old Navy
volunteers to help tag a ton of rubber ducks. After the Tagging Party,
Patti went back to her store and sold ducks for the Duck Derby. And
once again, Patti and Old Navy will be supporting the Sailing Regatta in
September, an event that would be paralyzed without her.
When asked about Special Olympics, Patti gave this response – “Personally:
The regatta came at a time in my life that I needed to give…and from that
weekend until today I have really grown into a person who seeks ways to
serve instead of being served. I think the cost that these families live
with every day would be enough to weigh me down and make anything extra
look impossible, but through events like this those athletes can
participate and train without added financial stress. It’s nothing
different than what I would want for my boys!”
For your devotion and support to our program, we at Special Olympics
Georgia thank you Patti. Congratulations on being the September volunteer
of the month!
