Cops on Top of Doughnut Shops April 29-May 1

It’s that time of year again where Cops will be ON the Doughnut Shops for 60 hours straight! These cops will do ANYTHING to raise money for the athletes of Special Olympics Georgia. Please stop by your local Krispy Kreme starting Friday, April 29th at 6am through Sunday, May 1st at 6pm to support law enforcement and enjoy a sweet treat from Krispy Kreme Doughnut! Help these officers get off of the roofs by making a dough-nation! All dough-nations benefit Special Olympics Georgia directly, so stop by

Help us Fulfill Our Dreams!

Hi! We are Special Olympics Georgia athletes Chris Currere, Daniel Hester, Erin Hoffman, and Paul Partus. We have been selected to represent Team USA at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens, Greece June 20th – July 4th. We will be joining 7,500 athletes from 185 countries for two weeks of competition and friendship.

 Volunteer Opportunities

 Cops on Doughnut Shops, State-wide
April 29 – May 1
Cops all over the state will sit on the top of Krispy Kreme doughnut shops and won’t be able to come down until they raise enough funds for SOGA. Volunteers are needed to assist in the fundraising. Locations include – Riverdale, Buford, Commerce, Duluth, Kennesaw, Lilburn, Marietta,
Roswell and Savannah.

 State Summer Games – Fans in the Stands, Atlanta
May 20 – 22

  Fans in the Stands – one of the most important volunteer roles we have -are needed to help cheer on our athletes as they compete in the Summer Games at Emory. To register, go to www.SpecialOlympicsGA.org to fill out the Summer Games volunteer application.Volunteer of the Month: Greg Creech

April’s volunteer of the month, Greg Creech, has many talents. From Pine Lake, Georgia, Greg has been volunteering with Special Olympics Georgia for several years.

 Bicycle Ride Across Georgia, Atlanta
to Savannah
June 5 – 11
Over 1,100 cyclists of all ages ride over 500 mile in 7 days. Volunteers are needed to staff rest stops along the route and encourage SOGA athletes that are riding! Route is Atlanta to Oxford on June 5th, Oxford to Milledgeville on June 6th, Milledgeville to Dublin on June 7th, Dublin on June 8th, Dublin to Metter on June 9th, Metter to Hinesville on June 10th and Hinesville to Savannah on June 11th. If you are in those cities or somewhere in between, come out to volunteer for a truly once-in-a-lifetime event.If you are interested in volunteering for any of the above events, e-mail

 If you’ve ever been to our annual Art Auction or Taste of Inspiration, you’ve likely seen Greg playing his piano, entertaining the crowd. Greg has volunteered his piano playing services to these events for seven years, including last month’s Art Auction, which was one of our biggest auctions in years with over 150 tickets sold. Besides playing the piano, Greg teaches Windows Operating Systems at Emory University and owns a tech company called Techedutainment Services, Inc, which teaches technology, education and entertainment, bringing humor and inspiration into the workplace. Greg has even taught a class on computer programming for the Special Olympics Georgia staff, and SOGA’s CEO Georgia Milton-Sheats has also spoken at one of Greg’s workshops.

Spring Photos: Time for you and it Benefits the Athletes

 Stephen Jones Photography is donating half ($62) of every photo session ($125) Special Olympics Georgia supporters’ order until April 15th. You can get photos taken at the studio or at one of five Atlanta locations, Piedmont, Woolford, Olmstead, Lenox or Winn parks. The first eight people who sign up only pay $62.50 for the session and a 10 x 10 print.
