Join the Monthly Giving Club

Athletes remind us every day that the triumph is in the trying and not necessarily in the winning. You can share the joy of Special Olympics by becoming a monthly donor and providing dependable funding for the athletes. For $10 a month, you will feed 24 athletes one meal at a State Game; for $25 a month, you will provide medals for 12 competitions at a State Game; for $50 a month, you will send two athletes to Camp Inspire; and for $100 a month, you will provide 80 athletes housing for two nights at a State Game. Your monthly donation can be any amount you choose. Each month, your contribution will be charged to your credit card or you can donate by sending in a check – whichever you prefer. As
a monthly donor, you will be recognized on our Web site and in our quarterly newsletter, Georgia’s Champions. To learn more, to sign-up, or to make a change to your current monthly donation, contact Susan at 770-414-9390 x111 or

August Volunteer of the Month

Since 2008, Kate Whiting has been an integral part of the Games Management Team (GMT) for the State Horse Show, supporting the show in almost every aspect from finding volunteers beforehand to helping in the arenas during the
event. This year, Kate was named the Assistant Volunteer Games Director, assisting the Games Director with all the aspects of running the show.

Kate is also an essential liaison with the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter, the location of the Horse Show, by keeping in constant contact with their staff making sure key elements are not forgotten or are secured. And, as she has also been so great at in the past few years, Kate is once again helping to find volunteers for the weekend of the games, volunteers that are knowledgeable about horses and can provide that extra needed assistance during an event where any knowledge about horses may be hard to come by with volunteers and is needed.

Thank you Kate for once again being a part of the State Horse Show and for moving into your new GMT role. Congratulations on being the August volunteer of the month!

Will you introduce us to your friends?

You know lots of people– family members, friends, work colleagues, just about everywhere you go there’s someone you know. Will you introduce Special Olympics Georgia to them? Forward this e-newsletter and ask them to click here
and then click on the Sign-up for the E-newsletter button. We’d love to see you and our new friends at the State Horse Show or Masters Bowling Aug. 19-21.
