Volunteer OpportunitiesPolar Plunge, Lake Lanier Art Auction, Atlanta Committee members needed for 2011 events!
Volunteer of the Month: Laurice RutledgeFinding the right person to be in charge of volunteers at a State Games venue can become difficult. But at State Winter Games last month, Laurice Rutledge had what it took: decisiveness, assertiveness, commitment and flexibility. And most of all courage, especially when it’s your first assignment.
Laurice is a new volunteer and for her very first assignment she took on the role of volunteer coordinator for the 2011 Indoor Winter Games at the basketball team play venue. This role required Laurice to come out earlier and stay later than all other volunteers and put her in charge of several people, who were needed to make the venue run. Laurice made sure
volunteers were registered, positioned, knew how to perform their assignment, did not abandon their roles, and performed their duties successfully. It takes a leader to manage several people at one time all day and it takes someone with courage to take on a role they have never done before. Laurice certainly proved that she was a leader and helped to make sure the basketball venue ran on time and smoothly. Thank you Laurice for stepping up and taking on the volunteer coordinator position for Winter Games! And congratulations on being the February volunteer of the month! We’re looking volunteers to help organize, promote and fundraise for events. Committee members are needed for March’s 2011 Art Auction, April’s 2011 Boccefest and the June 2011 Duck Derby. Interested in either of these committees? E-mail If you are interested in volunteering for any of the above events, e-mail Leslie.Anderson@SpecialOlympicsGA.org. |
