July Volunteer of the Month

This month, Special Olympics Georgia is honoring a very special volunteer who has been helping the SOGA staff out in the office – Bruce Coppedge. Bruce is a recent addition to the SOGA volunteer family, starting in March of this year, but he has become a special part of the office mix and by now we all know Bruce. Once a week, Bruce comes into the SOGA office to help the staff with various administrative duties; he is always right on time and stays for the most part of the day, bringing in lunch and a book for his lunch break. So far, Bruce has become very knowledgeable with the
in-and-outs of the SOGA office life, helping with volunteers, athlete
in-put, coaches and the Duck Derby. Each week, Bruce is a reliable and diligent volunteer and his service has become invaluable to SOGA, especially during the busy summer months.

Thank you Bruce for all of your help! The entire SOGA staff greatly
appreciates all that you do!

Sponsor Spotlight: QuikTrip

“Think Quik, QuikTrip. A convenience store that is home to QT Kitchens, fresh sandwiches, donuts, coffee, fountain drinks, and guaranteed gasoline.”

That is the motto of QuikTrip, which is the reason why they are a Fortune
100 “Best Companies to Work For” for 10 years and why the company is
profiting $9 billion a year!  QuikTrip has over 600 stores in 11 states.

Headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma QuikTrip was founded in 1958. “The QuikTrip story began with a conversation between a pair of former junior high school classmates on a downtown Tulsa sidewalk. More than 50 years later its improbable success is a remarkable business event.
QuikTrip
’s purpose to give people the opportunity to grow and succeed
has made it a favored place not only to work, but also to shop.”  It was
not until 1971 that QuikTrip first started to offer gasoline to its customers, and then a few short years later they offered “hot’n ready”
sandwiches.

In 2008, QuikTrip celebrated its 50th anniversary and opening of the 500th store, they now employ over 10,000 people.  Not only do they care about their employees and give them the entrepreneurial experience they need, but QuikTrip also gives back to the community a great deal.  QuikTrip donates 5% of their net profits to charitable organizations each year.  For over 5 years QuikTrip has graciously supplied meals for our athletes at all of our state games and events, as well as donated many gift cards for fundraising events. Special Olympics Georgia is humbly thankful for QuikTrip’s on-going support.
