Special Olympics athletes in metro Atlanta participate in equestrian competition in Canton Sunday
Atlanta (June 14) – Special Olympics athletes from metro Atlanta areas will compete in Special Olympics Georgia’s most unique event, the sport of equestrians, Sunday, June 27 at Stepping Stone Farm in Canton.
Competition is from 9 a.m. until noon at the farm located at 700 Trinity Church Road, Canton, GA, 30115. Awards will be given out to first through fourth place finishes. Participating athletes are from Cobb County and surrounding areas.
Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA) partners with 86 parks and recreation departments, to put on competitions for local athletes. These departments host competitions, provide staff to help run the event and offer programs through its therapeutic recreation division for people with intellectual disabilities. SOGA provides sports equipment, arranges for free medical screenings for athletes and helps publicize the new sports offerings.
The invitational is open to the public and attendance is free. Come out and be a fan.
