Jim Hamm
Jim is the Director of The ALTA Foundation's Special Olympics
Tennis Academy, as well as a tennis coach for the Cobb County
Special Olympics Team.
Jim says it's not selflessness that keeps him involved, rather, it's
selfishness. "I'm trying to find that point where I've given so
much that I'm giving more than I get back, and I haven't reached
that point yet."
For Jim, Coaching with Special Olympics has increased his self
confidence, helped him find more meaning in his life, and provided
opportunities for travel and life experiences that he never
dreamed about.
"Coaching with Special Olympics gives anybody who's been fortunate enough
to have positive role models and mentors a golden opportunity to
create a difference in the life of someone who came into this
world with certain limits. You're going to help bridge the
ability gap for them - and you will enrich your own life in the
process."
