SOGA Inaugural Polar Plunge-February 20, 2010-3934

Join the 2013 Monthly Giving Club

Athletes remind us every day that the triumph is in the trying and not necessarily in the winning. You can share the joy of Special Olympics by becoming a monthly donor and providing dependable funding for the athletes. For $10 a month, you will feed 24 athletes 1 meal at a State Game; for $25 a month, you will provide medals for 12 competitions at a State Game; for $50 a month, you will send 2 athletes to Camp Inspire; and for $100 a month, you will provide 80 athletes housing for 2 nights at a State Game. Your monthly donation can be any amount you choose. Each month, your contribution will be charged to your credit card or you can donate by sending in a check – whichever you prefer. As a monthly donor, you will be recognized on our Web site and in our quarterly newsletter, Georgia’s Champions. To learn more, to sign-up, or to make a change to your current monthly donation, contact Susan at 770-414-9390 x111 or Susan.Skolnick@SpecialOlympicsGA.org. Together, we can make a difference!

Athlete Profile: Chip Ford

Chip Ford has been involved with Special Olympics since 2003. He first competed at the state level in 2003 bowling at the Indoor Winter Games. Currently he participates with the Henry County Parks and Recreation Department. Over the years, his involvement has grown from being an athlete to also fundraising at major events and speaking on behalf of Special Olympics as a Unified Global Messenger.

In 2012, Chip was the athlete chosen to repel down the side of a 20-story building for SOGA’s first ever Over the Edge fundraising event. He managed to raise over $1000 for Special Olympics Georgia. He has also participated as a Polar Plunger. At the State Summer Games, Chip gave the athlete oath at the opening ceremony before a crowd of thousands.

Chip has been present at most state games and invitationals for softball. He even attended SOGA’s first ever kayaking invitational at Lake Lanier.
He excels at softball, volleyball, basketball, and bowling. 2013 will no doubt be another great year for Chip to show off his tremendous talent.

With SOGA, Eileen is a member of the Honorary Board, a participant in the annual Strike the R-Word Bowling Tournament, a member of the Bob Busse

The ducks will be here June 21 for the Duck Derby at Six Flags White Water, but you can start adopting now. A $5 duck adoption/donation makes a great gift for a friend;  one, to feel good about supporting the athletes and two, be entered in the derby where the adoptee of the first duck to cross the finish line wins a great prize. For example, what a heart-warming gift the duck adoption gift would make for Valentine’s Day.
