Publix-LETR Special Olympics Torch Icon Sale – January 2-23

At the beginning of each year, from January 2 – January 23, millions of paper torch icons are distributed to Publix Supermarkets and sold for a $1, $3 or $5 donation at the register, with the proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA). In 2015, SOGA received approximately $614,000 from this three-week promotion! Designed to raise awareness of SOGA, this promotion is in collaboration with Publix sponsorship of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR).

Publix’s support of this program is particularly unique because many of SOGA’s athletes are employed at various Publix locations throughout the state. The LETR involves more than 1,000 law enforcement officers from over 100 agencies who take part in various runs spanning two weeks in May in which they pass the Special Olympics Georgia “Flame of Hope” across the State. All of the relays converge at Emory University (Atlanta) during the State Summer Games Opening Ceremony. The LETR is the largest annual fundraising event benefiting Special Olympics Georgia with Publix being the longest and largest single donor to the program.

So come and support your Special Olympics Georgia athletes by purchasing your “Torch’ icons at all Publix store January 2 – 23, 2016. Thank you Georgia for your support!

Give a Gift. Change a Life. Make Your Year-End Donation Today

2013_year-end_running_boy_edited-1All of us at Special Olympics Georgia are thankful for caring friends like you who support our efforts and help transform the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities.  As we celebrate the holiday season, please consider making a tax-deductible gift to Special Olympics Georgia. You can even honor a loved one by making the gift in the person’s name.

And as an added bonus, through December 31, our partner Finish Line will match your tax-deductible donation, dollar for dollar, up to a campaign total of $200,000. This “Ignite the Change” Matching Fund will double the impact of every dollar you give. This means Special Olympics Georgia will be able to do more for our athletes … reach farther to engage new athletes … and show the world more than ever what people with intellectual disabilities can accomplish.

Please don’t wait, make your matching holiday and year-end gift today.

Color Me Rad 5K, March 22, Conyers

2013ColorMeRad2    2013ColorMeRad3    2013ColorMeRad4

Color Me Rad, benefiting Special Olympics Georgia, will take place March 22nd at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers.  Color Me Rad is a 5K that fires off in a blaze of color bombs, color cannons, color mortars, and multi-toned courses and guarantees a tsunami of color that’ll make colored tears of joy run down your cheeks and will renew your will to live.

You’ll start off with a shirt as pure and white as your granddaddy’s dentures, and throughout the run, your body will be coated with color bombs of blue, green, pink, purple, and yellow until your face, shirt, and body come out silkscreened like a tie-dyed hippy on the other side.  Each section of the run adds a new explosion of color to your clean, painter’s palate until you cross the finish line into a final blitzkrieg of color.

Register using Special Olympics Georgia’s promo code SOGA and save 10% off your registration and have 15% of your registration go to Special Olympics Georgia.
